High Sheriff of the Royal County of Berkshire
@alexanderbarfield was sworn in yesterday as the next High Sheriff of the Royal County of Berkshire. It was an honour to make is uniform for his year in service.
Velvet Court dress of the type still worn by High Sheriffs was specified by the Lord Chamberlain in 1869, as follows: Black silk Velvet Dress Coat, with gilt, steel, or plain Buttons. White Waistcoat, or Black silk Velvet, without collar, with similar buttons, but of smaller size.
After meeting Alex on a number of occasions he will do a wonderful job representing the county and sovereign.
